In 11 days, Powerball tickets in Tennessee and Georgia will double in cost to $2 per play. But lottery retailers don't expect the price hike to squash sales because officials say the new game will offer better odds and bigger jackpots. "But it's for the children!" and that is always the line used when exploiting the poor is the game. I still don't understand why lottery is legal while there is a law against gambling.

It's not just used on the poor. Check out many of the SPLOST campaigns in GA and you'll find "its for the kids".
What a crock of shit! If they would spend the money they received in an almost responsible fashion,doesn't even have to be totally responsible, there would be more than enough funds but they can't do it. THey just HAVE to piss the funds away on unnecessary and un-needed things
