New rules for county grounds, could affect how Occupy Chattanooga operates. During Wednesday morning's meeting, commissioners approved regulations that prohibit certain activities on county property, including holding campfires and setting up tables and chairs. County Attorney Rheubin Taylor says the policy formalizes rules the county has been following for decades. I liked the guy on the news this morning who bluntly stated he wasn't going anywhere. Yeah, we see how well that attitude has worked elsewhere.

I liked the guy on the news this morning who bluntly stated he wasn't going anywhere. Yeah, we see how well that attitude has worked elsewhere. One of the girls who was there yesterday said the same thing to a friend of mine who was down there yesterday recording things for a documentary she and her husband are working on. I think the County should get all their names and addresses and then send them a bill once all the repairs are done to the damage they have caused and continue to cause. It's going to be expensive to repair the damage that they've done to the Courthouse property.

Breaking news from the future: County officer at HamCo court house: Time to take your stuff and go home. Guy in tent there: Make me.
Two hours later: Guy in lockup @ HamCo Jail: Thats a nasty knot on your head. Guy that WAS in the tent: Yea, It hurts too.... wonder if my tent will still be there?

Oh yes. Remember that great Revolutionary Slogan, "Don't Tred on My Grass!"
Interesting how all the Rightists are now so intently pro-green.
Free speech-that we agree with, bearing arms-except "troubled yutes" right of assembly- except on our lawn, government non-intrusion-except in the bedroom and with women's reproductive health, freedom of religion-as long as it's Christian or quiet.
Indeed, evict the idiots.

I'm a Rightist as you call us and I happen to think the Occupiers should have the EXACT same rights to organize, camp, meet, rally, or whatever the hell else they want to do as the KKK, or the NAACP, or the Boy Scouts of America, or the New Black Panther Party, or the Tea Party have. Why do they deserve extra privileges?

I never said they did. And with the newly passed limitations, if OWS violates them, they should be prosecuted; break a law, pay the consequence.
My points, which you obviously missed were RE: how selectively Rightists are in the application of their professed values (which is not to say that Leftists are not also guilty, but the specific issue, "containing" OWS, pertains to the Rightists).

.... Free speech-that we agree with, bearing arms-except "troubled youths" ... right to bear arms is not really the same as carrying a concealed loaded gun in a public place. right to bear arms is what I understand "right to own arms" and "right to use arms to defend your home" I don't want to turn this into a second amendment discussion. Just wanted to say something about that statement.

No more selective than the Lefties when it suits them. The difference is that the Lefties feel superior to everyone else. They routinely dismiss anyone or any idea if it doesn't fit their narrow ideology, which is even more disgusting as they claim to be more "tolerant" than all the other scum they are forced to live near.

Well, LR, you apparently missed. didn't understand or ignored what I wrote. The rest of your screed fits the pseudo-religious Rightists more then the Leftists, but again, it's a matter of degree.

Again as a "rightist" I am all for EVERY group having the same rights. How can you even begin to say that my point of view in ANY way restricts the occupiers? I'm a strong advocate they should have the EXACT same rights as every other group.
Now to turn the tables on you shouldn't the KKK be allowed to camp out on the courthouse lawn and setup tents and chairs, etc for however long they want, like the occupiers have been doing?

Interesting how all the Rightists are now so intently pro-green. pro-green? i don't think "green" has anything to do with it. damaging government property costs the taxpayers money. i think these rules are beneficial. seriously, who thinks it's a good idea to allow people to have a campfire in the middle of downtown?

So much for ironic humor. Green-grass, you know...... I didn't criticize the rules.
Sheesh.
