It's most common in the Tennessee Walking Horse industry around here, but is used in a lot of the gaited horse industries. Caustic material or chains or other painful contraptions are used to force the horse front legs into an exaggerated walk. Some basicsThe practice generally leaves the horse lame after a very short show life. It's VERY common for "big lick" walking horse classes.

This is a practice sometimes used by those training walking horses to make them lift their feet up high.
