Tuesday, I donated some time and gas to rescuing a couple horses. Nothing wrong with them that some food won't solve, but their owners hadn't provided hay for the winter. This is KitKat (like the candy bar). She's about 3 years old. She's a dainty little thing. This is Kate. She's a 2yr old Bashkir Curly, which is a hypoallergenic breed. Yes, her fur is all curls. She's short, but built to be stocky if her legs are any indication. The curly fur hides her ribs better. Both are now at Sunkissed Acres Horse Rescue and Retirement (near Summerville) where they'll be brought back to normal weight and adopted out. To say the least, any downturn in the economy hits our pets and animals first.

Oh this makes me so ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!! I see animals on the side of the road all the time and am called all the time to take them away....I want to take all of them in, and we have even talked about getting a kennel of sorts in the back of our PD because of the number of animals that we have run across (not literally). Let someone know ahead of time that you are having problems. We are all having a hard time these days, but let's not let the animals starve to death - get help! Grrrrrr.. Thanks for doing this Kitty. I can find homes for Rotties, but not horses.....

They're putting on weight (most recent pictures from 2/1 on the rescue FB page) and looking good!
