I expect my old Malibu will fail for the same reason this year. I squeaked it by last year but...

The thing that annoys me is that stated reason for the emissions testing - fighting air pollution - is completely bogus since they exempt the very vehicles that are the biggest emitters: large trucks and older cars.

Got behind a Jeep last week on Brainerd Road, had a Bradley County tag and looked like it was fogging for mosquitoes. If you live and/or work in Hamilton County you should be required to pass the Test and get a sticker. Until common sense prevails and this silly game is cancelled.
Spent over $700 last week and another $250 today, but got the HC down to 11, the CO to 0.00 and the CO2 to 14.90. Y'all breathin' any better?

And it's not even because of the number of vehicles or the amount of their effluent; it's because of the topography and climate holding the stuff IN.

It's good to see more people standing up to this. For four years of my life, four years which I will never have back, four years of what should have been the prime of my life, I was a station manager there. I was responsible for numerous unspeakable atrocities committed against my fellow citizens of Hamilton County. I still feel tremendous guilt and shame over what I did in the name of the, ahem, "environment." Oh the stories I could tell. But basically the system as it exists right now is useless, filled with flaws, and inconsistent. I have a good life right now, a great job, and things are happy. Still, I am haunted by the nightmares of that horrible place.
