Chattanooga is being sued for not allowing an International House of Pancakes on Gunbarrel Road. "The only option I have is to go to court," said Bassam Issa, owner of Ant Group, the company wanting to build the restaurant. Issa filed the lawsuit against the city last week, asking the court to rezone the property, which is directly across the road from Target and Earth Fare stores, to allow a commercial development. He asked the City Council in December to rezone the tract, but the council voted down his request at the urging of Councilman Jack Benson, who represents the area. www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/feb/21/b1-ihop-rezoning-denial-prompts-suit-against-city/

No waffling on this issue.

WTG, Bassam. You are getting screwed on this one. Jack Benson needs his ass voted out of office. Maybe so; or maybe Benson and company have looked at what's happened to the Brainerd location since the redo and said, "No, Thanks". about the third week of thug-clearing, I'd have been hiring private security or off-duty cops to field-test some of these late-night ASSH*LES going to order every item on the menu, send it back three or four times, puke allover the new floor, then try to leave without paying, driving DRUNK, of course. it's sad to me to see a place that meant so much to me over the years get a second lease on life only to turn into a nighttime SHITH*LE

I'm sure gunbarrel will not draw the same crowds as brainerd rd just because of location. (or the location of the "clubs")

I'm proud to report there have been fundamental changes to the management and staff at the Brainerd IHOP resulting in improvement to that location.
Now, if they can lure some of the kitchen staff back and improve food quality, all will be well again.

IHOP and Waffle House are overpriced for what they offer. Huddle House might have a smaller menu, but, IMO they serve better tasting food at a lower price.

IHOP suffered a surfeit of "promotions" over the past year--"Smiley-Face Guava and Nutmeg pancakes, IN ASPIC!!!", which resulted in some of their staples sliding to new lows. I think that's over.
I did try Huddle House for the first time the other day and found it quite satisfactory, both quality and price-wise.

I love the food at Huddle house. But. The hixson store I ate there and got such blatant bad service I will never go back.
the brainerd store owner (same man owns both) refused to fix waffle iron #2 after months. I will give them a couple of years to get it fixed before Karen and I go back. Sucks to have to wait for one cooker to make waffles for the entire store.

I've never been to the Hixson location. I never had bad service in Brainerd, but I rarely order a waffle, so I can't say anything positive or negative. But, the absolute worst service I've EVER received was at Denny's. Never again.

Chattanooga can claim they are merely watching out for the welfare of the City citizens...no fatty food to die prematurely on.

I hate IHOP. Anyplace that adds pancake batter to their omlettes is just messed up.

No bicycle rack for parking anyway Hey, BTW, Happy Birthday ozzy 87! Thank you a day late. The big double 4. Somtimes feels like 144 when dealing with today's teens. According to them my musical tastes will soon become elevator music ( 1980's and older ).

IHop doesn't bill themself as "healthy" or "green". If they think putting pancake batter in omlettes is good, OK.
I've been diabetic since 1967 (type 1) and nobody has ever cared if a restaurant puts sugar/cornstarch/corn syrup/honey/syrup/etc. in their (pick something) so my thoughts are if they put something you can't/shouldn't eat in a dish, don't order it.

Didn't say they bill themselves and "healthy" or "green," just saying I personally think pancake batter in omlettes is icky. I'd think that if I was able to eat it. If you happen to like it, then go eat there. I simply pointed out something most people seem to miss on their menu, and most folks I've pointed it out to had a similar reaction to Ozzy and Wheels. From saying "yuck" with me to "well that's downright weird."

A lawsuit filed against City Councilman Jack Benson in behalf of a developer who was unable to get a lot on Gunbarrel Road rezoned for an IHOP has been dismissed. Circuit Court Judge Marie Williams directed that Issa Bassam pay the court costs. The suit claimed that Councilman Benson "in an effort to get the necessary votes for denial, lied to several members of the City Council by, among other ways, specifically telling the members that (Bassam) Issa attempted to bribe Benson with $2,500 cash in return for Benson's affirmative vote.
