CHA City Gov't OVER the people, not OF the people

Our government is unaccountable and unresponsive to the demands of the people. Even our own City Council Representatives cannot get access to the information they need to make informed decisions when casting votes that have consequences on tens of thousands of people. This is not government of the people, this is government over the people.

Richard Beeland, his spokesman, said the only thing different would be the process. He said some council members request information directly from the department heads, and it puts them in uncomfortable situations because they report to the mayor.

Why would giving information to a councilperson make the department head uncomfortable? Why would the mayor want to be anything less than open unless he has something to hide? I think the mayor needs to be pressed, regardless of how much he resists to giving answers.
