State Library and Archives' SNAP Grants Applications Now Available The Tennessee Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB) is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 round of State and National Archival Partnership (SNAP) Grants. SNAP is a program for improving the preservation of and access to Tennessee's historical records. Since 2009, THRAB has awarded a total of $148,000 in SNAP Grants to archives and historical records repositories across the state. Funds provided by the SNAP grants are used to increase funding for Tennessee's historical records, preserve and provide access to Tennessee's historical records, educate and train records custodians, and support archival program development and enhancement. "Preserving our state's historical records is extremely important," Secretary of State Tre Hargett said. "The SNAP grants provide funding and the support needed to help archivists do their work across Tennessee in the communities where these valuable records are stored." Eligible institutions include governmental organizations, small and medium-sized historical repositories, and non-profit professional organizations. The application and guidelines are available on the TSLA web site at tn.gov/tsla/aps/grants/index.htm. The deadline for proposals is September 1. Questions can be directed to Jami Awalt, Deputy State Historical Records Coordinator at jami.awalt@tn.gov or 615-253-3470.
