I'm thinking about dropping Verizon and going with a prepaid plan (the Verizon pre pay plan would not be cheaper than what I'm currently paying). Does anyone have any experience with t-mobile, virgin wireless, or any of the other pre paid providers, coverage, etc?

I've had t-Mobile for almost two years now. I pay $30/month for 1500 min/tex and web. that's ~$90 cheaper than I paid for Verizon for 450minutes, unlimited text/web.
With the exception of the first two or three months after the 4/27 tornadoes, the service has been better than what I had with Verizon. No random spouts of no service. No dropped calls between Tennessee and Kentucky. No dropped calls in the rural spots around the Battlefield. No delayed text messages. And best of all, not having to argue with them every 2 or 3 months about extra charges that I did not use or did not know I used.
Down sides: There is no "new every two" thing with the prepaid plans. Not really that big of a deal considering the phones pay for themselves with the lower monthly rates.
There are fewer phone options.
Customer service is some guy in India named "Jan from Flordia". :-D Not that big of a deal either, as you never need anything from them. The one time I remember having to call them, I was charged double one month. This was partly my fault due to an auto payment issue but they still gave me a refund and a free month of service.

One thing, not really related, is don't go to "the store" always call. Sprint store told me one thing when I called the lady was very helpful. I'm convinced the best way to go is to switch providers every two years.

T-mobile gave me a free month of service for December. No reason was given and there's nothing online about it either. Must have been a new loyalty reward that I didn't know about?
Just another reason to tell Verizon to shove it
