While it has been pretty well established now that Black Friday is not the busiest shopping day of the year (that would be the Saturday before Christmas), it is a fairly good gauge of how the economy is doing. Which makes this year rather confusing. First, the good news: according to ShopperTrak, retail foot traffic increased 3.5 percent to more than 307.67 million store visits. That's a whole lot of shoppers. And one would assume with increased foot traffic, there would be increased sales, right?
