For the second year in a row, The Chattanooga Zoo will be hosting its 12 Days of Christmas Campaign for the Animals. Fans of the Zoo will be once again be given an opportunity to purchase holiday gifts for their favorite animals. The 12 Days of Christmas for the Animals will begin on Saturday, December 1. For 12 days, the Zoo will feature a different animal on its Facebook page and what he or she would like for Christmas. Guests of the Zoo can bring their gift to the Zoo Gift Shop anytime during the month of December and receive a small gift in return from the Chattanooga Zoo. “As a nonprofit, people often ask us what they can do to make a difference for the animals and the facility throughout the year,” said Zoo Director Darde Long. “Little things such as canned meats, fruits and blankets are much appreciated.” Last year’s, Christmas Campaign for the Animals was a resounding success resulting in an overabundance of treats, toys and enrichment materials that Zoo animals have enjoyed throughout the year. This year, the Zoo has mixed up the list so that all the animals might benefit from this season of giving. To view the list, visit www.chattzoo.org/support/12-days-of-christmas. Guests can watch the animals open their gifts during the Zoo’s annual Holiday Lights which will take place on December 14, 15, 21 and 22.
