Rob Philyaw picked to be Juvenile Court judge by Louie Brogdon Hamilton County commissioners on Thursday appointed local attorney Rob Philyaw to succeed Suzanne Bailey as Juvenile Court judge. In a vote that was expected to take "multiple, multiple ballots," according to Chairman Larry Henry, commissioners were able to eliminate seven of 10 applicants on the first try -- with no public discussion -- by nominating just three people. Chester Bankston nominated current Juvenile Magistrate Troy McDougal; Tim Boyd nominated Curtis Bowe; and Jim Fields nominated Philyaw. I wonder if the guy’s name is really Robert. It seems somehow unnerving to have a judge named “Rob”. I can fathom it as a lawyer, but as a judge?
