Given the part of town where this guy was found, should the general public assume that a drug deal gone bad was probably behind this or perhaps some gang-related retaliatory get-back? Was the victim a professional felon / frequent arrestee who constantly gravitated to violent crime situations? Would be nice to see people's rap sheets when things like this happen ....

I look pretty young, but I'm just back-dated.

Sure hope it wasn't a random drive-by...I sit on my front porch all the time and plenty of folks go by, both on wheels and on foot.

Here's the Google Map of the address, Kordax. Considering the area, I believe you are correct in your assessment.

A man was engaged to a woman 18 years his junior, who turns around and shoots him for unknown reasons.
Hmm... Kordax and Vox may not be completely off base, though their usual cynicism can easily be understood.

Whatever the reason it happened, it appears the community has lost a tireless volunteer.

Cynicism or not, the opinions expressed appear to be way off base!
If LE could find a psychic that can predict what kind of crime is going to happen in which zip code, we would be way ahead of the game.
Then we would truly be pro-active!
Do we really want truly pro-active law enforcement?

OK, no gangs, no drugs.
Bushtown.
Wrong guess.
But the same need for background information & context exists to put things into perspective, regardless of the section of town. Are these people (victim & suspect) repeaters? Do they qualify for frequent felon points? Frequent arestee flier miles? Have they (any one of them) worn out the carpet in front of the judiciary throughout the past? This information has been routinely sequestered from the public & the great things is the police would benefit dramatically if the public realized, case by case, just how many 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & more chances these people have been granted by the system yet they're still out there on the streets.

Henry Cothern Remembered The name of the victim in last night's shooting is a familiar one to many Chattanoogans. Henry Cothern was a veteran, a former police officer, and a nationally recognized volunteer. He leaves behind a daughter who was the inspiration for his amazing record of community service.

He sounds like he was a very good man. His fiance, on the other hand... what do we know about her?
