Possible pedophile in park prompts increased police patrols Saturday, May 05, 2007, at 5:56 p.m.
Staff Report East Ridge police have stepped up patrol and surveillance activity at Camp Jordan Park following an attempted child abduction, according to Chief Eddie Phillips. The chief said officers converged on the park Thursday at about 10:40 p.m. and conducted a search for a middle-aged man who allegedly tried coaxing a girl into a wooded area. The child's mother called her away and the man fled into nearby woods, Chief Phillips said. Police and coaches from a softball tournament searched the woods and nearby Cedar Glen subdivision for the suspect, described as a white male, about 45-50, with dark hair who was wearing a white T-shirt with green lettering and dark cargo shorts, he said.

I was just reading about this on Channel 9's website.
According to their article, when the station was going to spread the word about the predator, some of the Camp Jordan people wanted to keep it a secret.
What's up with that?

Mother: Stranger Tried To Lure Away My Daughter Seth Seymour May 4, 2007 - 10:23PM A mother says a stranger tried to lure her daughter into the woods at an East Ridge ball park. Now parents and police are searching to find this alleged little league predator at Camp Jordan. But when NewsChannel 9 tried to help spread the word, some people at the park wanted to keep this a secret. But first, we share with you the problem: As kids play ball for another night at Camp Jordan, police say a strange man could be lurking nearby. "Trying to lure some young girls into the woods with him," Officer Erik Hopkins said. A scared mother alerted police Thursday night, saying a man told her 9-year-old daughter he had something to show her in the trees. The girl followed the man until her mother screamed. Then the man ran away alone. "It obviously needs to be looked into," Hopkins said. So police want to get the word out about this alleged predator. We went to get reaction at Camp Jordan where the alleged incident took place. I think Michelle M. may be doing the Public Relations for Camp Jordan now.
Sure sounds like it.

East Ridge needs to find whoever these people are and fire them immediately.

(I was nowhere near the park that day...and I always use the 'free puppies' lure as a starter.)

These were not city employees, but parents of the little girls playing in the tournament. Even the event organizers had children in the park playing softball.
Reporters and papparazzi are always getting their clocks cleaned sticking cameras and microphones in celebrities' faces, much less in the face of a parent, asking about a possible pedophile in a park.
