Published May 10, 2007 Rumors Fort Payne High School was going to explode Wednesday at 3 p.m. were taken seriously by school officials and law enforcement. Superintendent Jimmy Cunningham said he got a call from Fort Payne Police Chief David Walker about information he had received about the possible threat. Cunningham said the rumor centered around a pastor who had received a vision an explosion was going to occur at the school at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and had announced it to his congregation. Cunningham said he did not know the pastor’s name or the name of the church. But police took the rumor seriously. “Chief Walker had our patrols doubled [Tuesday] night,” Cunningham said. “Our school resource officers also patrolled all the schools before school started.”

Y'know, it used to be clergy would preach to their congregations about responsible behavior and the folly of gossip and gratuitously inciting unrest! Isn't this the closest you can get to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater?
