There is that. I was always embarassed if I had to ride in a bus with a scratch on the bumper.

*shrug*
My sister, when she moved to Washington State, was all upset and concerned about the bus system. Location and schedules would not work with her dropping the kids off every day and she was just certain that the bus couldn't possibly be safe.
Until Mom reminded her that WE rode the bus. Every day. We survived relatively unscathed (aside from that one fight she and I got into.... Us 1; Rest of the bus 0)
