Samara and I saw both Enchanted and Beowulf today and were absolutely blown the fuck away!!! Enchanted was a lot of fun (although Patrick Dempsey should have had a line about being caught in the middle of a Disney cartoon). Good story, and definitely not a movie for kiddies. Well, maybe not "definitely", but there are some rather obvious (and pointed) sexual innuendos). Beowulf in 3-D was amazing!!! This ain't our parents (or our younger years) 3-D. If any of you have seen the 3-D version of Nightmare Before Christmas, this is at least 100 times better. And the previews are fucking out of this world as well (including a preview for a U23D concert film and "the first live action 3-D movie" Journey to the Center of the Earth). Both highly recommended. Oh, and one of the ad movies that played before Beowulf was extremely moving. Here's a link: www.1800goguard.com/movie/index2.php

No Country for Old Men. If you like the Coen brothers, you'll love it.

The last movie I saw was Hostel 2 and that was on dvd.
Thorne, I agree with you on Beowulf. It is the best 3d animated movie yet. I wonder if you can get a discount for seeing it again since you already have the glasses from the first time around.

It's one of his favourite movies-and probably his favourite disney movie period.
He's seen the one with Kevin Costner as well at least a portion of it but wasn't as interested in it.Mind he was alot younger when he saw that one though.

Watched 'The Skeleton Key' last night. John Hurt gave a phenomenal performance as a stroke victim. The ending was a surprise and 'hoodoo' wasn't given the usual 'over-the-top' Hollywood treatment. I rather liked it.

National Treasure ll. The 'puzzles' aren't focused on as much. Still a good movie. I would recommend it.

Saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets last night. Good show with an obvious hint of a future chronicle of Ben Gates. There's even a brand new Disney cartoon starring Goofy on the front end of the movie. I don't think I've seen a cartoon short in front of a feature film since I was a kid -- unless you want to count the shorts that Pixar puts in front of their offerings as a "cartoon".
Speaking of Pixar, I got to see a trailer for their new one, Wall*E which comes out in June. It looks interesting. It'll be especially interesting to see how well a movie with no dialog can get its storyline across.
There was also a trailer for an upcoming film called Hancock in which Will Smith plays a "down-and-out alcoholic superhero who causes mayhem and destruction whenever he tries to perform heroic deeds". While it looked pretty good and I will probably see it, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed in Will Smith for falling back on the old "smartassed Fresh Prince" persona after having turned in such brilliant performances in Ali, The Pursuit of Happyness, and I am Legend.

Diary of the Dead. George Romero is back. Pretty decent zombie movie. As always George throws a little social commentary in.

Rented "3:10 to Yuma" the other day. I enjoyed the movie. My wife even thought it was OK---high praise from a despiser of westerns.

Picked up The Dark Crystal on DVD the other day and watched it. Trippy. Better for the scenery than the plot, though. I'd forgotten how dumb the actual story really is.

Watched The Darjeeling Limited last night.
I heart artsy films...
Saw 3:10 to Yuma the other day and loved it. Then again, it's Christian Bale and I adore him so...

Little Miss Sunshine-a wonderful movie I totally agree! My spouse & I nearly fell off of the sofa, laughing. Loved the family's support of the little girl. It brought to mind any number of my family's road trips when I was growing up. Finally got around to this one. Very good - an interesting blend of National Lampoon's Vacation, Raising Arizona and a dash of American Beauty. At the point where the old man has died and Kinnear says "Are we losers?" I was expecting someone to say "No -- we're Griswolds!"

We have netflix and just finished The Orphanage . www.imdb.com/title/tt0464141/ I really enjoyed this movie. However, if you don't like subtitles, skip it. Next up is Atonement. Has anyone seen this yet? Out of the movies we've gotten so far, I've really enjoyed: 3:10 to Yuma, No Country for Old Men, and Eastern Promises. 30 Days of Night was ok. And I may be in the minority here, but I just couldn't get into There Will be Blood. In fact, I fell asleep during it.

We've been watching TV on DVD a lot here lately. We've watched 7 seasons of SG-1 over the last 3 months or so. Although we did watch "The Army of Darkness" last weekend. That's required every so often.

Saw "Mr. Jealousy" last night. It's a ten year old from Noah Baumbach. I loved the "Squid and the Whale" that Baumbach did a couple of years ago. It's a perfect movie. "Mr. Jealousy" was also good, funny but poignant too.
