I sent them an email to be a tester when they get to my neighborhood. Reply said they would be in touch when they get into this area.

they are behind on the fiber installation. it has been hanging on the poles here for a month, trucks have been out here twice and the mass of cables is still hanging off the poles.

They missed the launch deadline. It happens. There's probably someone being thrown under the bus for it right now.

When there's lightning (not lightening) anywhere in the area, my AT&T DSL goes down, er, stops working. Naturally it happens right in the middle of my best porn sessions, so I want something better.
How about it, EPB beta testers? Does EPB web access continue to work even in thunderstorms?

i went for a drive in riverview/north chattanooga today looking for a house, and i saw close to a dozen homes with the EPB fiber testing signs in the front yards. lucky fuckers are still getting that stuff free because of the delay on the citywide rollout.

they finished that here over about 2 weeks ago.
you figure that the power bills would have a message printed on them about the pending service or something.

Of course, many people are assuming that EPB will work right all the time and will have the desired channel choices at a reasonable price, right?
What else will EPB be able to do to for its customers once fiber is installed? I mean, is EPB spending all this dough out of the goodness of its commercial heart?

Yoda, most of the experts that I've heard discuss the issue claim that it takes three suppliers to create any meaningful competition that can put downward pressure on prices. Whether you use EPB telecommunications services or Comcast or AT&T doesn't matter, the more widespread EPB services are offered the better it will make your service. Clear is now offering internet service in my area. Prices for AT&T and Charter internet services are now dropping.

Hmm...
With their 20 mbps internet + cable package I'll only be saving about 15 a month. IIRC Comcasts internet is 50mbps,so I'm not sure the extra 15 bucks would be worth it :/

Comcast internet prices if you have cable tv: Economy (downloads up to 1 Mbps and uploads up to 384 Kbps.) $24.95 per month Performance (Downloads up to 15Mbps, uploads up to 3Mbps with PowerBoost®) $42.95 per month Blast!® (Downloads up to 20Mbps, uploads up to 4Mbps with PowerBoost®.) $52.95 per month Ultra (Downloads up to 30Mbps, uploads up to 7Mbps with PowerBoost®.) $62.95 per month Extreme 50 (Downloads up to 50Mbps, uploads up to 10Mbps with PowerBoost®.) $99.95 per month www.comcast.com/shop/buyflow2/products.cspx?SourcePage=Internet

Placed my order with EPB today! Yeah..No more Comcast after next week.
Saved approx $50 a month for equal service, except EPB'S DVR records 4 programs at once versus Comcast's two. I can also watch the recorded shows on all the tv's in the house.
I live on Missionary Ridge. She said most of central and North Chatt is ready or will be in a few days, the outlying places like East Ridge and Red Bank will be over the next year.

If I could get EPB now I'd save over $50 per month and get more channels.

Looks like I'd save about 40 bucks a month if I switched to them for phone, cable, and internet! Come on EPB, hurry up and get to my neighborhood.
