Yawn, so I get to see a guy out of costume who was in a movie 30 years ago from 100' away and maybe shell out $30 so he can scrawl his name on an ink jet printout of his picture after I stand in line for two hours. Nope, not interested in the whole fan boy thing, never have been. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy and all, but most of my fun at a con comes from hanging out with the other fans, not fawning over the talent.
(Sorry, travel has me in a pissy mood right now.)

After 35 years Chattacon is finally getting a Media Guest? Who's in town that the man is actually visiting?

Actually, he is. His wife's a pistol, too. Quite sociable and not standoffish at all.

How about if they schedule Mayhew to do his guest speech in the lobby Friday night? God knows, that's where the largest group of people will be for the longest time. Or maybe the Molly's could perform for the people standing in line? Anything? Because Ghod knows nothing else will have any attendance at all until after mid night when everyone just gives up and looks for a room party.

Chewbacca may be four inches taller than I am, but I'm not nearly as hairy.

You can come sit in the Lobby or got to the O'Shea party with us. I thought we were going to get freebies for doing panels again this year. That didn't happen. Now we are way to broke to pay full price at the door. So, we'll just hang out and talk to our friends in the "public areas".

You can cancel out of being Caucasian?
I've heard of gender changes, but what will they think of next?!? Oh, I forgot about Michael Jackson. Never mind.

Peter mayhew is a wrinkled old curmudgeon. try asking politely to have his picture taken with you. all the years of fame fortune and his only source of income being his autograph has turned him into a monster i'm afraid.
on a side note arc attack will be there, and those guys ARE friendly, sociable, and fun loving. they also put on one HELL of a show.

It isn't really my cup of tea but I'm going to attend to support the folks who are putting it on. I'm sure it'll be a good time.

Science fiction lovers invade 35th Chattacon
By: Brittany Cofer Children toting light sabers, men dressed as pirates and women wearing fairy wings were just a few of the sights at the 35th annual Chattacon science fiction convention Saturday. Held in the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel, more than 1,000 people attended this year's three-day convention for lovers of all things sci-fi. Chattacon is one of three major sci-fi or fantasy conventions held each year in Chattanooga, and is what some call a "relaxacon." "You do a lot of sitting around with friends," said Anthony Allen, a 38-year-old Knoxville resident who has been coming to Chattacon for five years. "Since it's been going on for 35 years, it's kind of like a little family. People here have known each other a long time." Charlie Williams, financial officer of the convention committee, said Chattacon is a place for people to share their love of science fiction literature, movies and television.
