As Grid wouls say "Go ahead and try this at home, you know you want to!" Do not! try this at home! Actually while I was there, they offered me a soft drink or two the first day of my choice. I drank so many Diet Sprites, I brought the cans home to give to afriendwho takes them to the McKamey center to recyle.

Here is a picture of the brace Babs is wearing. Looks like a spare arm from Darth Vader's exoskeleton to me.

The hand is now black and really swollen. However, it is so big, I can prop the palm on the board and type. the whole arm is blue. First night from the hospital...no vitals or pans. Don't know if it's better or too many days of lortab. I;e been sparing with the meds and wine. Can't have too much fun. If I can talk and type, I can be back at work in a week. Felix is still have to help with hygene. It's a Laugh A Riot here!

The staff at ERlanger are very nice, but it is so nice to slee\p in my own bed without an IV or oxygen. No questions about if I can scoot up in the bed or if I have to go to the bathroom. I'm getting fond of my little exoskelton. Scarlett, it may make a nice part of a costume sometime!

Wow-that looks like it really hurts! Take care of yourself and be sure to complete all the physical therapy they prescribe-it will really make a big difference in the mobility of your arm. Can I bring you guys dinner or something?

It looks like something out of Road Warrior. I was thinking more along the lines of Ash Williams. You need to accessorize, Babs:

i have nothing but sympathy for you. i remember breaking my left ankle in the 9th grade. fractured the fibula, tibula and the growth plate. at the end of the first week after it was broken, my foot was black and blue too. as i look back on that experience, i dont know if the broken bone hurt worse or if my armpits hurt worse from the crutches.
to this day, if i am wearing an expensive pair of boots or loafers, i can tell that my left foot is just a tick smaller than the right. all shoes are tighter on the right side. i broke it during that time most young men go from runt to bean stalk tall.
i know that brace hurts like hell. but hang in there and you will be good as new in a couple of months.

Found I really can't take Lortab or Darvocet. They make me sick and give me horrible night mares. I'm going to try ibuprofin and see. I work wath the nicest people in the world, but ai can't go back until I'm out of the cast. Liabiliitiy and all that. I have no more annual leave, but they're going to find something maybe PRN until a'm cleared. Plus, no insurance...Four hrs surgery, ambulance ride, oxygen, morphin, 2 pints of blood, 'three nights at Eranger. Ca Chunk, Ca Chunk. Felix deserves a medal! Brings me ice at night and day, helps me with personal stuff. He's great!

Grid, I wasn't at home. That was the garage steps at home 2 years ago.I fell twice in the bathroom at ERlanger. Once supervised and once unspervised. Both times with the IV pole.No harm done, but I don't think I was really popular that night. got a catheter soon after!
