I Got it! I Got it!
I Love it! I Love it!
I have fun new TV channels, the internet doesn't go *poof* when the wind blows, and the phone is fine. I even have call waiting... if I can figure out how to use it.

I have a friend that has it and he is already thinking about switching back to Comcast. He was told it was 100% Fiber Optic, and he doesn't like the fact that there is a box outside his house that converts the fiber optic to coaxial cable. I asked him if he could afford a computor that had a fiber optic input on it and he said no! So IMHO, it's HIS problem, not EPB's!

We switched from a mismosh of Comcast, DirectTV and AT&T to all EPBFI. Happy, happy, happy.

Ridiculous reason to switch back to Comcast, that's for sure. EPB is indeed a 100% fiber network, it merely converts the TV back to coax when it enters the house so it's compatible with the cabling already in everyone's homes.

Yoda.... EXACTLY when we had a snowstorm back in the winter I was online and watching TV. The big c customers in my neighborhood couldn't for about a day. the people on each side of me were glad I had wireless and EPBFi. One has it now and the other is still considering it.

EPB IS Fiber to your home. The fact that they convert it at your meter so your equipment can work is more than comcast does. (I have 100+ channels and no box on my TV)

We were told you could only record one HD TV program at a time. Has anyone found this to be the case? On Comcast you can do two HD shows at the same time. We haven't switched yet, only considering it at this time. We were told you can record two at the same time, only not in HD.

As far as I know, you can record a total of 4 shows at one time, 2 HD and 2 SD.

I can record two HD channels at once and 2 SD for a total of 4. I've had it for a while now and I was a beta tester and it has never gone out, well not never I did lose power a couple of times so I couldn't verify if the stuff still works because I don't have a generator.

I know for fact Phone and internet still runs in power outage. I came home and power was out due to a tree down on line so I tested that with battery back up system I have. I didn't get to try out my booster pack inverter on TV stuff in time before it came back on. Maybe next time...... LOL

no MLB Network on the Cable package.
ain't gonna work for me. sold on everything else.
Comcast will lose a customer once EPB gets the MLB Network.

Are there taxes added to the bill for EPB internet/television? If so, how much is it typically (Ballpark: $5 - $10)? Just trying to compare the EPB packages vs. my current satellite monthly charge and DSL. Just received a notification it is available in my area (EPB Fiber Optic).

I like the EPB service. Internet is fantastic, phone is same as Comcast for the most part, and on the TV services I like the nice DVR. Also like it that you can access the DVR from other rooms. Customer service and billing are all great. The only drawback is the lack of on-demand programming. I'll give it to Comcast in regard to free movies and shows. Hopefully EPB will add this stuff in the future.

We've had EPB service for our TV for several months. I heartily recommend it! We currently have AT&T's DSL service & hey, our internet goes down after heavy rains, too, Yoda! The only thing holding me back from EPB's internet service is the price. We may have to bite the bullet & spend the money...sigh...

Email from EPB Yesterday (June 1 2010)
We’re sorry about the inconvenience! "On June 30, you may have experienced some issues with your Fi-Speed Internet as a result of an unplanned outage. This would have happened between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and continue to work hard to bring you the best Internet service around. Thank you for your patience!"
Now when do you get mail like that from the "others"? They also send out advance notices of scheduled maintenance too.

I was thinking my internet wasn't as "blazin' fast" as they advertised, but this morning I did some checking. Got rid of every last vestige of AT&T/Bellsouth stuff that was lurking in the background on my PC (and a few other unused programs as well). Now...Pow! Yes. It's FAST.
Customer service is awesome. NO voice-recognition b.s. No long wait times. You get a person immediately. Who speaks English. Who is calm, patient and respectful.
Can't give you much info re: TV because my husband is the TV-watcher, not me. But we have a much better lineup of channels than we had with Dish. Dish was a huge dish-appointment to us here in TN. In ATL, for the same price, we got a lot more stations (including Animal Planet, MSNBC, and BBC America). For some reason, they chose to include those in a higher-priced package after we moved here, and we were never very happy about it. Now with EPB we have all of those back, and much more, and pay much less. The phone seems fine. In short, no complaints.

I got a notification today that ATT U-verse is available to me. Anyone know the pros/cons of it vs. what the EPB is offering? Will it also go out when a storm comes like my current DSL? Any help will be appreciated.

speaking from experience, I have the phone service so I have battery back-up for phone during power outages. I have my cordless phone and router on a battery backup/surge protector. Last time we went down from a storm I still had phone and wireless internet. I was breaking out my inverter/booster pack when the power came back on. I was hoping I still had TV too..... It is close by for next time.

Love, love, love, love EPB. Great people to do business with. The charges aren't that different from Comcast, but I didn't change because of the cost. I changed because Comcast just didn't get it. When we were comparing whether to stay with Comcast & upgrade our cable or go to EPB, the straw that broke the camel's back was that Comcast was going to charge us a service charge and EPB was not. When we explained that we were considering changing to EPB, they were able to drop their installation from $99.00 to $49.00 (or something like that). We just kinda decided that we weren't interested in doing business with people who were so CLUELESS.
Meanwhile, we've had to call EPB a few times to sort out some specifics on our computer - setting up a wireless router, etc. - they've been awesome & on top of everything else, they speak in an accent I understand - and, yes, that's important to me.

Any help will be appreciated. U-verse runs over basically a souped up DSL connection, but it is still not able to come anywhere close to the bandwidth available on EPB fiber. I see no reason to choose ATT over EPB unless the price was just fantastic.

Anybody else notice the poor quality of source video sent by epbfi. I'm talking about the video quality after passing through their video center. I don't think it has to do with the broadband signal but it seems they degrade the video quality passing through their processors. Sometimes certain channels look like they are filmed in a movie theatre with a portable camera then broadcast to us.
