made our 1st visit ..interesting ..pricey ..lots of goodies ..attitude ?? apparently we met different folks from precision and snarkalicious...on check out (clerk Jaqi) we were discussing with the lady ahead how she like the tuna salad and got the "how dare you ask" look from the clerk whose attitude remained in need of an adjustment throughout the checkout. The variety and taste may bring us back, the price and attitude won't.
editied AFTER I ate my turkey wrap.... :-)

I just left there, too. I was wearing a red Christmas cat shirt. My cashier was a young, slightly portly young man with black hair and a shy smile. The tomato soup with veggies is very good. I also picked up some mixed fruit with some of the sweetest pineapple I have ever had!

Dunno Ceallach. I passed on the soup in lieu of something asian on the hot bar yesterday. I'd've gone for the chili, but it wasn't gluten free.

Not as good as when you were there! I had a vegetable minestrone the other day that was good. The walnut cranberry bread is great! So how are you doing and when are you are coming back?

I hope the doc gives you the go-ahead. I was there yesterday and thinking of you. I visualized seeing you working there in hopes that it would come to pass.

I made my first trip to GreenLife this past Saturday.
The look of their meat and seafood section was pretty, but the organic BBQ sauce and pita bread I picked up was severely lacking in flavor. I'll go again but I'll be a little more picky next time.

Have you seen hot bar at Greenlife? The 10 or so times Ive been in, the Hot Bar items look like dog food. Alpo. Sorry if that offends anyone, but, every time Ive been to the store Ive been hungry and wanting to try, but decided to pass each time. Mush. Mush. Mush. The prepared food items seem like Greenlife is 'trying too hard'. It also seem that they have same items everyday and none of them what I had a taste for. And I eat everything from Bea’s to St. John’s.. Ill eat anything. A dude I know got a container of hash browns.. Hash browns... and when checking out discovered they were.. Get this... $14! No two pounds of hash browns anywhere are worth $14. If you buy 1 seasoned boneless whole chicken breast it will run you close to $12. If you get enough of the spicy pork loin for two it will cost you $16. If you buy a complete prepared food meal for two including sides, you will spend to what you would spend at Boathouse.
I swear that when they moved into their new Tajmahal everything in the store went up a buck compared to Riverview. The beer is at least $.50 more a six-pack then the previous high-price leader Golden Gallon (or whatever they are called now). Half of the times Ive been into the store Ive left with nothing.
I won’t even get into the attitude of the staff on the floor.
On a positive note, the last time I was in the 'Granite Bar' was open and after looking at the hot bar (some sort of mushy dog food) and prepared food case (same old) I decided to try a slice of pepperoni pizza and a slice of the BBQ chicken. I got in the car and took a bite out of the BBQ Chicken slice…. I ended up eating both slices before leaving the parking lot... quite good. Sadly, it took more than five minutes standing (I started watching my watch after I got annoyed at the wait) for some one to ask if I wanted anything.
Im not someone to bitch about prices because I only shop at Buehler's… I am well experienced with Whole Foods in Atlanta and in Chicago, they are pricey, yes, but even Whole Foods seems cheap compared to Greenlife. (I am by no means constrained on what I can and will spend… but I do spend my money wisely as on principle.) I travel to Chicago frequently and right around the corner is a Whole Foods where I pick up prepared food for dinner… they always have something that looks and tastes good and I don’t feel like Im getting ripped off. Remember the hash browns? Or the Portabella mushroom price increase in someone else’s post?
I see that a member of this board works at Greenlife and in no way are my comments directed to any one person nor do I wish any one person to be offended.

When I spend time in Northern VA, I love to eat at several upscale grocery stores. The prices are most reasonable & the quality of the prepared food is excellent.
Greenlife has a long way to go before they compare ....

I love the cranberry walnut bread, and most of their soups. I don't go to the otherside of the deli, but the hot food section by the salad bar looks great. I don't work there, but go by about 3:30 every day on my way to work for lunch.

The pizza looks great! I usually just get a salad or soup. The employees are always nice and very helpful..The store in no way compares to Buehler's. They have no selection, and the staff is non existant.

He obviously was not comparing Buehlers to Greenlife.Seems to me it was a thought out negative review, nothing more/nothing less.Your Buehlers response Babs was off target....it's ok that someone doesn't like what you like.

I decided to head over there since hearing all this chatter about the place. I really like the selection of foods. I got some strange looks from the floor staff as that I was in uniform (police) Some of the floor staff look like they probably support illicit drugs, which is fine as long as it didnt interfere with my lunch break....lol
The sushi is really great! I was so happy with the selection of different items. They make so much that there is always plenty. I have noticed that Fresh Market tends to run out fairly quick. They have a selection of different wraps. They were not bad, but nothing overboard. I am impressed, but not at some of the prices. It just seems a bit much which makes me reluctant to purchase. I am sure they wont have much of that problem as that every time I have been there have been plenty of yuppies willing to pay.

Wow...... I will relay the jist to the floor managers about the service and the food... We make things in rotation so fast I never see much come or go. I am also back to prep and food, off soups for a bit till I can run around like a chicken with my head cut off.... The sushi folks work fast and hard to go over the top.

ffspam said that he/she only shops at Buehler's. That speaks volumns. Greenlive must have looked like something from FutureWorld.

Just stopped by last night, on my way home from the office, for the first time. Very nice. Was even able to find the echinacea drops for the baby, the elderberry syrup for the adults in the family, and the lavender honey, with no difficulty. Need to go back again, however, when I can spend more time shopping.
BTW, Ceallach, of whom there would I inquire about the possibility of stocking Duvel (beer)? I noticed that there is a fairly good selection of imported beers, but no Duvel (which is my favourite).

I would ask the Cheese folks, I am not sure who does the beer orders, I work tomorrow and will find out though..... Another thing I have found out is that our beer is on a rotation in which we get different kinds from time to time..

The wine shop is open now! A limited but excellent stock. However, in the quantities I consume, I'm better off going across the street for the boxed wine. It would be a great place to puchase a wine gift for someone else.. a hostess or host gift.
