Some friends of mine and I were talking about what we would do with the old Tortilla factory and the rooftop bar if we had it to do something with...my vote was for a downtown Hooters...so what would you do with it?

I would give it to Michelle.
I would never support the opening of yet another franchised restaurant.

LOL, Laura. I would LOVE a CF here.........
But, on the other hand, I would get huge as I would want to eat there about 5 times a week.

When I was in Charlotte, NC for in house computer training back in 2005, my boss took me there one night for dinner. I absolutely loved it!! Because I enjoyed it so much that night, she took me back that weekend so I could drink twice as many of the tropical martinis and really enjoy it! We had a blast and their food is WONDERFUL!!!

Downtown Hooters? Isn't that Buck Wild? No doubt another bar would be good, but hopefully one less tourist oriented.

Every time we go to Vegas, we have to eat at CF in Ceaser's. In Irvine, at the Spectrum. And, we do go down to the one in buckhead occasionally. I am really kind of glad there is not one here. As for the actual cheesecake - I am usually too full to ever have a piece! But they are wonderful, Dream. Edited to add: thanks a lot, Laura - now I have a craving and am thinking Buckhead in the next few days. Prolly not due to xmas traffic, but it is tempting - bad, bad lady.

Just got back from Vegas ... wish we had gone to the Cheesecake Factory in the Forum Shops at Caesar's instead of the Palm Restaurant (steakhouse) which was kind of dismal.

We need to find out how to get one of those in Chattanooga!!! Do you talk to the people at a place like CBL Associates or do you have to get in touch with the Cheesecake people at Corporate?

I don't know, but Chattanooga needs a Cheesecake Factory, a Ted's Montana Grill, and a Maggiano's Little Italy ...

I don't know, but Chattanooga needs a Cheesecake Factory, a Ted's Montana Grill, and a Maggiano's Little Italy ... You know... With them getting rid of all that stuff over at the Foundry area... They could put a couple of really cool urban park like areas with some of these KILLER restaurants in them right next to the interstate and make a KILLING off of them!!!! Just think how much better Warehouse Row would do if it was closer to the interstate.

Why do people go out of town and then eat at restaurants they could eat in back home? If they put a Cheesecake Factory or a Ted's or a Maggiano's in Chattanooga where would you go while in Buckhead? Trust me on this. Give the place to Michelle or some other killer local chef.

Oh, I would not go to Buckhead to eat at CF if we had one here. We go down to Costco (way better than Sam's, btw, and 6% sales tax) on Barrett Pkwy, then go to Buckhead for CF. Sometimes, not every time. Sometimes we stay on BP and eat at Bahama Breeze or On the Border, or a couple of the other places there that we do not have here.
I am fine with what you said as well, that sounds like a plan. Still would not mind a CF somewhere.........

Maybe Hoppy and Michelle could go in to that place together. Let her handle the food and him the atmosphere.

Nah, it wouldn't work. It isn't seedy enough for Hoppy to make it a success with his kind of atmosphere and Michelle is too smart to get hung with the kind of rent they would be asking.

Why do people go out of town and then eat at restaurants they could eat in back home? Oh, I know ... go to London, and eat at Burger King.

I don't know for certain, but someone told me that the rent and CAM are close to $10,000 a month plus the owners want a percentage over a certain amount of sales. Of course, that's just hearsay.

I don't have access to any of the three restaurants I mentioned in Lafayette, IN. I love Maggiano's but haven't been to the one in Indianapolis ... That was my guilty pleasure for Tampa ...
Cheesecake Factory and Ted's are both in Indianapolis, but I haven't been to those locations either ...

Maggianos is great...When we lived in Atlanta it was one of our favorites. If they came to Chattanooga it would crush places like Olive Garden...I know, I know Everyone loves the salad and rolls...blah blah blah...I still think it sucks. Especially the salad and rolls...

But, Whim - you don't have access to a Waffle House, and make sure to get it in when you are in town here, don't you. I *think* I remember you saying you miss those. Heaven forbid I am someplace like north ATL for shopping and decide to drive on down to a restaurant I like that I have no access to here - or somebody eats at WH when they are visiting town......... That would be just like flying to London to eat at a BK - just like it.

My long list of places I hit up for eats when I'm home:
Waffle House Krystal Five Guys Ichiban Sonic (although they're building one here ... three cheers!) Glen Gene Amigo's
I spend my time at home visiting and eating and eating and eating and eating ...
I guess I'm a person that likes consistency. I don't THINK I'd go to London and just go to Burger King, but I mean, if I want to spend my money and get something I know I'll eat and enjoy, then I might (especially if I'm pressed for time).
I don't like to get surprised by an expensive meal that turns out to be a bomb ... that's just me. I, unfortunately, like the consistency of the chain places. I can get the same International Club I know and love at the IHOP in Lafayette and in Hixson.
Who wants to waste their money on food that is hated at the end of the meal? That's why Back Inn Cafe and I never got along. I thought, for all the hype, that frankly, their food sucked.

Outside of local chef talent as Justin suggested and to which I would agree, "McCormick and Schmicks" would be my choice or "Legal Seafood".
