You're a well-known granola-eating, weed smoking, bleeding heart troop-hating patchouli-smelling Bonnaroo-hugger, so I figure fate will 'deal you the dick' eventually much better than I ever could.

OK - whomever is making the family members read this had better STOP NOW
There, problem fixed. Resume exercising the right to free speech.
There is honor among thieves. I am pretty sure those incarcerated for killing (or causing the death of) their own children are ranked just above cannibals. It won't be a pleasant stay if he is incrcerated.

That is the very same BS I have heard at every VEHICULAR HOMICIDE BY DUI and RECKLESSNESS I have ever assisted in the prosecution of. Statewide.
Same BS.
"It was just an accident my client got drunk off his ass and killed two people with his car."
"He didn't mean to do it."
"He didn't mean to be an alcoholic, he was just born stupid."
"It just happened and there is nothing we can do about it now."
"He is a good man and had a job once."
"If he had to do it all over he wouldn't do it again."
Yada-freakin'-yada......................
The same BS in the DUI Homicide cases is the exact same BS that is being used to excuse this ass hat's ACTIONS.
ACTIONS (Or INACTIONS) do have meaning and they do have CONSEQUENCES.
I bet every prisoner in the entire state (Or world, or universe, for that matter) was, at one time, a good person, and I bet they all wish they could do it all over.
They can't and this guy can't.
When he gets done beating himself up over this HOMICIDE, the rest of us would like our turn. But a stiff prison sentence would be enough for me.
Death of a child at the hand of another, be it by DUI or by neglect, is still a death of a child and it both could have been prevented.
And DUI offenders did not have an alarm that warned them they were too drunk to drive. Several times.

No, I won't convince any of you that Bob is a good man and loves his children. I won't convince you that Bob would rather have had his own life taken than that of Timmy's. But for the family, who may read your nasty words, they will see that there are also people out here who love them, care about them, pray for them and have compassion. --
You also won't convince me that Bob is anything but the worst parent a 15 month old could hope for--crack addicts, for instance, cook their children with FAR less frequency than ol' Bob here (because that's what he did, lady--he COOKED HIS TODDLER SON THROUGH NEGLIGENCE; HAS THIS FREAKIN' ESCAPED YOU?)--but for the family, who may read our nasty words about his mind-numbing act, they will see that there are also people out here who love them and feel sorry for them, and are FAR less likely to roast their kids.
THAT should bring them comfort, by your logic. Now, the way your head feels now, jaw agape, eyebrows furrowed in confusion? Well that's how WE feel on the other side of your Bizarro fence.
'Enjoy.'

I would hope the family would have better things to do right now than read a message forum.

I would hope the family would have better things to do right now than read a message forum. Fuck yeah....they have a spare room now to convert into a den or sewing room. Probably need to toss down a new coat of paint... Maybe even have a yard sale....

Though my language wouldn't be as "colorful", I have to agree with Stray. For those that are making an attempt to defend by saying "stress", "work", "assumed they had done it" and other variants of the same bullshit, let me ask you one question; Name one thing in your life that is more important than the safety and well being of your children... in other words, there is no excuse.

Did I miss an obituary posted for this child? Or they just didn't want the public showing up?

This was such a huge screw up, You are right, but I have a hard time believing that this guy intended to harm his child. He will probably be suffering with this mistake the rest of his life and I would imagine his wife will leave him within months. Not defending the guy, but I do think he is remorseful

I'm sure he never intended to harm the child. I'm sure he never intended or meant for anything bad to happen....because HE DIDN'T USE HIS FUCKING BRAIN FOR ONE SINGLE SECOND TO EVEN THINK ABOUT HIS INFANT CHILD.
I'm sure there was no intent at all, you see....because there was absolutely no consideration at all.
I'm sure he's quite remorseful. I'm sure he's terribly sorry about the whole affair and would love to put all this mess behind him...
I'm sure OJ Simpson feels the same way. I'm sure the crazy diaper-wearing NASA bitch feels the same way. I'm sure that crazy shoe-bomber 'American Taliban' guy feels the same way...
I hope he tells his cellmate just how remorseful and sorry he is while he's getting a giant convict penis repeatedly embedded in his nether realms.

So what is the generally established punishment for making a really stupid mistake?
Maybe we can stop the population clock.

Well, if someone makes a bad mistake and drives under the influence, or forgets to pay taxes, or on impulse steals something, what happens?

I'd say that depends on if they get caught....and how 'caught' they get...
