What: Our Big, Huge, Fantastic, Do Not Miss Christmas ExtravaganzaWhen: Friday, December 11, 7:00pm till MidnightWhere: VFW Post 4848, 1491 Riverside Dr, Chattanooga - next to the Boathouse restaurant ( map & directions) Here's how it works: this is a potluck party. Everyone is asked to bring something to eat and a soft drink of their choosing. This thread is the place to discuss what you are going to bring, so we can get an idea on what to expect. No outside alcohol can be brought in (state law), but there is a fully-stocked bar inside the main hall so it's not like it is a "dry" party. I've been assured that the bartender can handle our group efficiently. They've never met our group, but they are still confident. Kitchen is available for warming/cooking/refrigerating as needed. I have made a command decision that smoking will be outside only. Even though I am a smoker, I like our parties to be fun for everyone, even those militant ex-smokers amongst us. ;D Door and restrooms are "accessible". There is an outdoor grill if anyone cares to get there really early and fire it up (wood/charcoal). There is a boat dock if anyone cares to cruise up to the back door. Also a very nice shaded grassy area next door for anyone who would rather camp out in the ice and snow than drive home.

Sounds like a plan! I'll be in full swing cookie and goodie mode, so I'm sure I'll be bringing something sweet, aside from my husband. And I'll probably think of something else as well, closer to time.

Oh! And the Popcorn Popper! Hubby bought a ton of popcorn, oil and flavor powders for Halloween and then didn't use them. It sounds silly, but who can really resist fresh popcorn with a beer?

Potluck in our world means "bring something edible". It doesn't have to be home cooked.

Especially since some of us are famous for our inability to cook edible things.

Please note: I think Alice B. Toklas brownies are still against the law, also.

Since the "good" brownies were singled out as off limits... I'll bring (wonder if Worm will like it) chill (FYI: Worm has a bit of a tolerance for what some people call "HOT" food) *shifty glance*

I'll bring some sort of Meat in a crock pot. Whether that's pot roast or BBQ pork roast might depend on what's on sale that week.

Quoth the Captain: "...camp out in the ice and snow..."
This is not Upper Michigan, this is Chattanooga. Rain, maybe, frozen stuff reserved for the bar.

Breaking News: I cannot make it. I have a prior commitment. I do my internet radio show on Friday nights and that Friday I have author Alan Gilbreath (Galen and Dark Chances also Jack Lago supernatural mysteries) booked for an interview.

Right now Stychen and I are planning on attempting to make it. We may be a little late because Friday traffic between here and there ain't a picnic.
I'm thinking my black bean salsa might fit in.
