Yeah, I know. I don't belong. My husband lost his job in January. But we survived. Then he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Things have been taken downhill since then. I just pray that God will understand and forgive. You have got to understand that I love my husband. Therefore, I complain and gripe. You have to eat (I have cereal, and fruit juice.) No, eat, drink. Every time you wake up, drink, eat. Drink, eat. Yeah, he just went to the bathroom. YEAH.
Oh, I guess I forgot. We spent eight hours in the ER at Erlanger. He has pneumonia. God will assist. I am Yankee. I do not believe that sitting down and feeling God is there, is enough. God helps those that helps themselves. I can not sit and pray. I will bitch until he eats and drinks enough. He will be stronger tomorrow. And that is the strength that God gives me.
Thanks for listening to my rant.

Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear of all these trials. I hope your husband manages to fight off the lymphoma. Just keep after him and make him eat and drink like he needs to.

You "don't belong"? What the hey does that mean? You belong here as much as anyone else here. Some think of you, some pray for you, but we all support you and the tests of faith that you've been given. If nothing else, know that you can "rant" here - anonymously - and not be judged. God be with you and give you strength.

I've gotta admit, the "don't belong" thing has me baffled too. The tragedy of the situation has all due condolences and offers of emotional support, but that's not my strong point in these parts, believe it or not
The Don't Belong thing, though...that Does. If you don't feel that way already, send me a PM and we'll work out a little branding trick I know that involves pliers, a wire coat hangar, and a propane torch.
I'm quite 'gifted', really.

I can remember July 27, 1993. I received a call at 5:30am. My husband was working in Radclift, KY. The call was from a fellow worker. I was informed that my husband had a heart attack and was taken to Harden County Memorial Hospital. I passed a Tennessee State Trooper in front of Ace Hardware on HWY 58. The speed limit was 45, I was going 80. I prayed that he would stop me. All I wanted was an escort to the KY state line. He yawned. Going up Mont Eagle, I don't know how many troopers I passed. None stopped me. My husband was transported to Jewish Hospital. The best ever. The doctors, the nurses, everyone was so kind. It still brings tears to my eyes. You don't expect that type of tenderness from hospital employees. At Erlanger, you get yawns.
What really, really pisses me off - the person driving 15 mph in a 45 mph road. Get the hell out of my way. Pull over. You are the worse driver on the road. Those people passing you on a curve and crossing a yellow line, should push you off the road. You are the worse driver on the road. You are the unsafest driver on the road. Get Off ! ! !

Yeah... those of us with cars that barely run need to stay to the right... and remember that every 'speed demon' out there isn't just a jerk. Sometimes, they really DO need to get somewhere quickly.
And please, feel free to vent to us any time you need to. We got a lot of shoulders... and most of us have been there, done that in some form or another. And just because you were born a damned Yankee, we can forgive that because it was an accident of birth. Totally not your fault. You got smart. We accept 'converts'. *big hugs and grins*

Sometimes it really helps to cry on someone's shoulder. I being the one in a wheelchair probably have the biggest shoulders. but even if I don't you are welcome. (I get lots of crying, wish I could do more to help, but sometimes you just need someone to cry with you...)

Western NY is beautiful. Have you ever been to Letchworth State Park< The Grand Canyon of the East? That's where I learned that Comfort Stations were public restrooms. I am from Medina, about 25 miles north of Batavia. For a short time I lived in Canandaigua. Yeah, I know wine country. Mile, after mile, after mile.

Albion is the County Seat for Orleans County. Yeah, about 7 miles from Albion. You been there?? Were you lost??? I can honestly say that I loved being there, in that part of New York. Do I miss it? No. I am a Damn Yankee. This is my home and where I want to live.

I spent a few years of my childhood in Pittsford. A bit south of you, but still beautiful when I was there. I'm sure it's built up now.

There is a little mom and pop motel called Dollinger's that was a few blocks west of Main St. on state hwy 31. My boss lived in Medina and, in fact, that is where the business started out. There was a BBQ place I use to go to in either Spencerport or Brockport. I can't remember which one of those two towns it was in. Anyway it was surprisingly good BBQ for being that far north.

Did you ever have a beef on weck?? Please tell me you had a beef on weck.
What was the name of the motel on Hwy 31 in Medina? Wasn't it Dollinger's??
I guess you never had the good fortune to go to a clam bake? Oh, yeah. That was good stuff. Yum, yeah there is something I miss about the North. Boiled clams, chicken, beef and pork bar b que. Cold beer. You can't chew a clam. Just kinda pop it in your mouth, crunch once, swallow, and drink.
We didn't party hardy, we just partied - a little. I can remember one beer party in Lyndonville. The keg was on a raft, about 20 foot out on Lake Ontario. You had to swim out, pull yourself up, get a glass, and swim back to shore. That was fun. I never spilled a drop. That was also the party where you turned over your car keys when you got there. Unless you were sober, you didn't get them back until the next morning. The cottage was a duplex. Girls on one side and boys on the other. I did spend the night a couple of times. Oh to be 18 again. Actually I was only 16. The "dad" was a state trooper. Yeah, that was fun meeting him at the front door. That's why we didn't argue. We just slept, girls on one side, boys on the other.

Dollinger's was on Hwy 31 but it was in Albion. I think I heard our office manager talking about them having a motel in Medina at one time but I was only in Medina at my boss's house once.
And, yes, I've had a beef on weck. Most of my time spent there was during the winter. It snowed all the time so I never made it to a clam bake.
