Never could understand why people would mix rum and coke. It makes it all lumpy....

Sinatra and the Rat Pack may have enjoyed Jack and Coke but that was back in the day when Coke was made with cane sugar and not HFCS. JD does not need a mixer. Neat or on the rocks, with or without a chaser but not a mixer.

unless you hit one of those mexican stores. they sell Coca-Cola with sugar. Matter of fact its like the old stuff, two chugs and it burns so bad you can't breathe.

I think I saw the Crazy Beer Lady at the Dollar store. If it was, I agree, she is pitiful. I couldn't imagine being around her while she was drinking. And no guys she isn't hot, you would have to be stoned to think she was. It is sad to be in her situation, we chatted while we were in the check out line. She lives on Redding Rd. with her Mom and Dad, and she has some health problems.

I don't doubt that she has health problems. She sits outside on the bare ground in all kinds of cold weather to drink. Tuesday, I could hear her coughing while I was in the bathroom. I'd be surprised if she didn't catch pneumonia out there. At least she wasn't out there in the rain the last couple of days.

That's your opinion not fact, same as mine. But really, why would you cut JD with Coke, or even visa versa? Both are much better by themselves. Once again of course, IMHO.

I'm on Jay's side of this one. I like my Jack in Coke. But then, I'm not as much of a 'hard core drinker' as some others. About the only thing I drink 'straight' is beer or wine. Hard liqueur burns without a mixer to ease it off. I'm just not into the burning.

I'm not a heavy drinker either but I do enjoy good whiskeys. Some are decent for using with mixers but the better ones are better on their own. George Dickel burns and is rough going down by itself. I can see mixing it with Coke to make it more drinkable but Jack Daniels stands on its own. I could sip on a glass of Jack all night long. Since George Dickel is at least $2 a bottle cheaper than Jack Daniels why not buy it if you are going to be mixing it anyway. They are both Tennessee charcoal filtered sour mash whiskeys.
Personally, any top shelf liquor is better on its own. The exception to that might be vodka. But the better the vodka the more tasteless it is so vodka is more or less made for mixing and taking on the flavor(s) of the mixer.

Hard liquor doesn't burn. Cheap liquor burns. JD is cheap liquor. Good liquor doesn't need a mixer\ice\water, nor is it intended to be mixed.

Knob Creek, I can drink straight. Jack Black needs the coke. There's a huge difference. Gentleman Jack is an improvement, but for the price I'd still get the good Kentucky Bourbon over the Tennessee Sour Mash.

Gentleman Jack is a notch above Jack Daniels black label but I'll still take Jack Black over a Kentucky Bourbon. I just prefer the taste. The exception is on a hot summer afternoon I do like the mint juleps. Sour mash just doesn't work as a substitute for bourbon with those.
